This is my
personal blog about anything I happen to be doing at the time of writing: reading the news, trekking the globe, considering my career or just simply taking a few minutes off from the world to tell you all my thoughts. Hopefully it'll be interesting most of the time!
Up until January this year I was a student of BA Public Relations at Leeds Metropolitan University. I lived in a great city and experienced a vibrant culture with the fantastic friends I made, but as much as I was enjoying it I soon realised the course wasn't for me. I'm now spending the summer months travelling the United States of America before coming home to study BA Media, Culture & Society at the University of Hull (ironically the course I was meant to begin three years ago).
Another thing I got out of my time in Leeds and studying PR was the invaluable life lessons I learnt from the people I met, many of whom have shaped the way I see my future and which way my career lies. One thing that influenced this was the role of News Editor I agreed to take on for online publication, Behind the Spin. The magazine is aimed at students and young professionals of public relations, there's some well-written features on their worth a read too at www.behindthespin.com .
In addition to news writing, studying at Leeds Met also encouraged regular blogging, which I did at http://laurainleeds.spaces.live.com/. My entries here can still be viewed at present.
At the moment I'm enjoying not worrying about my career as much as I used to, instead I'm enjoying the slightly warmer climate of East Yorkshire and seeing where my writing takes me.
